Morocco Itinerary | See Morocco In Two Weeks Without A Guide

Chefchaouen

Planning your Morocco itinerary? Before arriving in Morocco, I did a lot of research trying to figure out what to do, where to go, what to eat, etc. When it comes to travelling, I’m very particular. Every travel magazine and website, travel blog, fashion blog, guidebook, and Tripadvisor was not left unchecked. I asked for personal recommendations from friends, travel experts, and more. It took a lot of time and work to plan out this ideal two-week Moroccan itinerary.

To recap, my brother and I drove from Madrid to the south of Spain. We stopped in Sevilla and then spent a night in Algeciras to get ourselves ready for the ferry ride over.  We are independent travellers and not the type to take tours so we rented a car in Tangier and navigated the country ourselves. If I was alone, I would not have been confident enough in my driving skills to do this. Luckily my brother and sister in law are very confident drivers. In turn, I was the one who organized everything.

TRIP PLANNING STARTS HERE

HELPFUL GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Flights: Find a cheap flight using Skyscanner or Momondo. I like these two booking sites because they both search all websites and airlines around the globe including budget airlines.
  • Accommodations: I use Booking.com or Tripadvisor to find the best rates on hotels. Hotels.com offers a free night after booking 10 nights.
  • Get up to $40 off your first Air Bnb stay by using this code!
  • Travel Insurance: Having gotten sick on my travels in the past, I never travel without being insured. You never know when something may happen. For my round the world trip and extended long-term travel, I use World Nomads. For other trips, I have used Roam Right and they cover activities like extreme sports.

How to spend 2 weeks in Morocco

Also, this was our original Morocco itinerary. Life doesn’t always work out the way we plan them so there were some changes in the end. More detailed Morocco posts will be published about the specific things we did in each place. But this is what our original Morocco itinerary was. Of course, if you don’t have 14 days or if you have more than 14 days you can add or subtract and pick and choose from this plan! Ideally, I’d have loved to spend several months in Morocco!

A 14 Day/2 Week Morocco Itinerary

Day 1 Tangier
  • Take the FRS ferry from Tarifa, Spain to Tangier
  • Pick up a car rental from Europcar in Tangier
  • Drive to Casablanca
  • Check into accommodation. We stayed at the Sheraton Casablanca

**My brother and I had our bags with us when we got off the ferry and because we forgot about the time difference and the siesta closure. We had to sit at a cafe for an hour till Europcar re-opened. I wasn’t too interested in seeing Tangier so we didn’t bother to explore but if you only have a backpack with you, you could probably take a taxi to the Medina and wander around.

Day 2 Casablanca

**Casablanca to me is typical of a big bustling chaotic city. I was not a fan. Traffic is insane. We didn’t bother exploring here either but if you have more time or want to explore, head to the famous Rick’s Cafe which was made to recreate the bar made famous by Casablanca the movie. Because there was a holiday happening, we were unable to do a tour of Hassan II Mosque. It’s absolutely beautiful on the outside and I would have loved to go inside.
