Whistler Girlfriend Getaway: 5 Must Dos For A Perfect Trip With the Girls
Thinking about a girls’ trip this winter? One of my favorite destinations for winter fun is Whistler, Canada. As one of the top winter destinations in the world, it is an ideal place for adventurers, foodies, wellness lovers, and girlfriends! Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or even someone who hates physical activity, Whistler is perfect for everyone. Besides skiing or snowboarding its famous slopes, there is so much more to do in this world-class mountain town, so Expedia.ca asked me to put together this guide for the perfect Whistler Girlfriend Getaway trip.
1 . Play Outside!
Whistler is all about the outdoors. It’s a year-round destination but most known as the number one winter destination in North America. You can participate in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ziplining, dog sledding, and more.
I tried out the Ski/Snowboard with an Olympian Program and Olympian Julia Murray was my guide
My first time on skis! Cross country skiing with my friend Dana around Lost Lake in Whistler
Even if you don’t ski or snowboard there are so many activities that you can participate in like taking the Peak 2 Peak Gondola to see the stunning views.
You don’t have to be sporty to ride a gondola!
Love adrenaline? Ride a bobsleigh down an official Olympic track at the Whistler Sliding Centre

2. Partake in apres ski
If you’re going to a mountain town in the winter, you have to participate in après ski or after ski. It’s a must even if you’re not actually skiing or snowboarding. At the end a long day on the mountain, most people congregate at one of the pubs/bars in town for drinks and snacks.
Here are some of my favorite places for an après ski drink:
Bar Oso is Whistler’s new kid on the block. It is a Spanish small plates eatery also serving craft cocktails and beer. While I only had a sneak preview of the food and drink in November (2015), I trust the team behind Araxi to do an incredible job here. And a FYI, the staff here is good looking ladies!

Cure Lounge at Nita Lake Lodge
Cure Lounge is the perfect place to go for après ski if you find yourself in Creekside or are staying at Nita Lake Lodge. They have great specials along with a s’more station set up outside during the winter season.
Have you ever done shots in a vodka ice room before? You and your lady crew will don parkas fit for the Arctic as you shoot vodka in the coldest ice room in the world. This isn’t an après ski activity, though. It’s more like an après dinner and get ready to party activity!
3. Have some spa time
Of course, you need to have some spa time for your Whistler girlfriend getaway! My favorite spa in Whistler is Scandinave! It’s a Nordic spa set in the middle of the forest! How epic is that?
To see more about Scandinave, check out this blog post here.
The Spa At Nita Lake Lodge
Perhaps you’re staying at Nita Lake Lodge and you want to stay on that side of Whistler. No problem! Nita Lake Lodge has a spa and has even been named one of the Top 10 Organic Spas in the world by Organic Spa Magazine. I had a kundalini massage there and it was amazing!
4. Eat delicious food!
If you’re looking for good coffee in Whistler, Purebread serves Stumptown. Their pastries and baked goods are also amazing. I’m a huge fan and always buy extra treats to bring back to my room.
If you’re staying at Nita Lake Lodge, Fix Cafe is fantastic. They sell fresh juices, 49th Parallel coffee and in-house made baked goods, sandwiches, and other delicious food.
I discovered La Cantina this past summer when I was on a girlfriend trip with my friend Christy from San Diego. They serve tacos and burritos here and they get the thumbs up from this California residing taco connoisseur.
A gastro pub serving quality comfort food by locals for locals….and visitors. Breakfast, lunch, après ski, dinner, late night eats, and kids friendly.

Araxi, a long time Whistler staple, is a farm to table restaurant in the heart of Whistler Village and a must when visiting the mountain resort town. Whether you come for a glass of wine, a plate of oysters, or a multi-course meal, Araxi is perfect for an upscale meal with the ladies.

5. Stay At A Great Whistler Hotel
I’ve stayed at almost every hotel in Whistler and these are my two favorites:
Want to be in the thick of things? The Westin Whistler is one of my favorite resorts in Whistler. This all-suite hotel is located right in the heart of the Village and steps away from the base of Whistler Mountain. If you have never been to Whistler before, I always recommend staying in the Village for your first visit. Some of my favorite amenities at the Westin include fireplaces and kitchenettes in each suite. There’s a fitness center, an indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs, and my favorite, a Eucalyptus steam room.
If you’ve been to my blog before you know I’m a fan of Nita Lake Lodge. Nita Lake Lodge is located in Whistler Creekside, south of the Village. It’s in a residential neighborhood beside Nita Lake. If you want to feel like you’re truly getting away while you’re in Whistler, stay here. The lake views and the quieter vibe are fantastic.
If you’re going up the mountain to ski, snowboard or sightsee, the hotel is a 7-minute walk to the Creekside Gondola or they have a shuttle that can take you into the Village. Suites have a kitchenette and a gas fireplace. Try to get a suite with a lake view! Within the hotel is The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge. They offer spa treatments here or all guests of the hotel can come up to the use the 2 hot tubs on the roof or the steam room. There is a fitness center, a yoga studio as well as snowshoes and other sports equipment like kayaks, bikes, and fishing rods (seasonal) to use near the property.
If you’re planning a big trip for girlfriends or even a statute, ask for the Rainforest Suite. This 1415 square foot suite has its own private elevator entrance and full sized dining room and a kitchen. *The view overlooks the mountains as opposed to the lake with this suite.*
