Morning Skincare Routine | What I Do Every Morning For My Skin And Body

AM Skin

Over the last few years, I’ve started a regular morning skincare routine. I wish I cared about my skin earlier but alas, at least I am doing something about it now. My morning skincare routine changes with the seasons or if I try new products. So I’ll be sure to share a new post or update this post!

Bioderma Sensibio
Just until the last year, I would wash my face with a strong cleanser vigorously in the morning and night. Now when I wake up, I take a cotton pad saturated with Bioderma micellar water and wipe my face clean. Then I rinse my face with cold water a few times. This also helps me wake up. That is it for cleansing. I stopped using a face wash in the morning because my face was getting too dry. And because I’m aging, I’m losing moisture.

TRIP PLANNING STARTS HERE

HELPFUL GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Flights: Find a cheap flight using Skyscanner or Momondo. I like these two booking sites because they both search all websites and airlines around the globe including budget airlines.
  • Accommodations: I use Booking.com or Tripadvisor to find the best rates on hotels. Hotels.com offers a free night after booking 10 nights.
  • Get up to $40 off your first Air Bnb stay by using this code!
  • Travel Insurance: Having gotten sick on my travels in the past, I never travel without being insured. You never know when something may happen. For my round the world trip and extended long-term travel, I use World Nomads. For other trips, I have used Roam Right and they cover activities like extreme sports.

After cleansing, I put on some serums. I’m trying out a Vitamin C by Mad Hippie as well as “Buffet” by The Ordinary. Mad Hippie was about $30 at a local health food shop and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I put it on before moisturizer and sunscreen and now after 4 months of use I can say I have noticed my skin discoloration on my cheeks have faded and my skin looks brighter. I am a fan!!!

After the serums, I moisturize. In the summer I go with something light like Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream. It moisturizes my skin but doesn’t make me feel like a grease factory. They sent me this product to try last year and I’ve since repurchased it. My friend also let me know that Costco sells a two-pack!

For the winter I’m using something a bit heavier for me but I love it. I switched to Cerave’s Night-Time Facial Lotion. It’s labelled for the night only because there isn’t sunscreen. So I layer sunscreen afterwards.

After I moisturize I then put on sunscreen. Biore UV Aqua Rich (from Amazon) was recommended by my celebrity makeup artist friend Katy. It’s so light and sheer and SPF 50 and has rave reviews on Amazon. It’s an Asian SPF and you know how Asians like to protect their face from the sun. Hahaha.

**Because summer is coming, I picked up Heliocare SPF in Spain. So far I’m liking it. It’s an oil-free lightweight sunscreen and doesn’t give any kind of white cast. Sunscreen in the United States has not advanced compared to countries in Asia or Europe. Even though I used to love being suntanned, I’ve been using sunscreen daily on my face since the mid-90s. Now that I’m older, I want to slow the process of aging as much as possible.

After facial sunscreen comes makeup or not if I am just being fresh-faced. I don’t do much for the daytime but if it’s summertime and I am outside a lot, I add more sunscreen. For my body, I use Lubriderm with SPF 15 but when I am going out to walk the dog, I spray some SPF 30 or more on. A shower is needed at the end of the night to make sure I’m not still sticky in bed.

Every day, I also drink about 3-4 litres of water. This has without a doubt helped change my skin. In the past, I was not a big water drinker but that changed a few years ago when I started working in improving my life and adding in new healthy habits.

And that is it for my morning skincare routine! What do you do for your skincare routine? Leave it in the comments or tag me on your social post. I love knowing what others do for their skincare routines.
