Planning a Tokyo trip? You must cross Shibuya Crosswalk!

Going through my hard drive and computer, I have found some old video clips from my round the world trip. I have been trying to edit them and post them to my YouTube channel. One of the videos I found was when I was in Tokyo and staying in Shibuya. The video is a little snippet from the world famous Shibuya Shibuya Crosswalk, which is known for being the busiest crosswalk in the world.

HELPFUL GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Flights: Find a cheap flight using Skyscanner or Momondo. I like these two booking sites because they both search all websites and airlines around the globe including budget airlines.
  • Accommodations: I use Booking.com or Tripadvisor to find the best rates on hotels. Hotels.com offers a free night after booking 10 nights
  • Get up to $40 off your first Air Bnb stay by using this code!
  • Travel Insurance: Having gotten sick on my travels in the past, I never travel without being insured. You never know when something may happen. For my round the world trip and extended long-term travel, I use World Nomads. For other trips, I have used Roam Right and they cover activities like extreme sports.

Shibuya Crosswalk is located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, which is a popular shopping area known for its nightlife and fashion boutiques. The crosswalk goes in all directions and is located right by Shibuya Station, one of the busiest train stations in the country.

In my video, it doesn’t look that busy but when you cross the road people are going in every direction. It looks like people are coming at you. Somehow the chaos is controlled. Japanese people are polite so they are not in your face but if you fear crowds it can be overwhelming.
