Divoom Voombox Travel Bluetooth Speaker | Get Your Travel Party Vibes On
Looking for a travel speaker for your trips?
While I was travelling on my round the world trip, my friend Paul met up with me in Bali. One night due to a cultural holiday we were stuck inside our hotel and we couldn’t leave the property because of a Balinese holiday called Nyepi. Nyepi is Balinese Hindu New Year and it’s a day of reflection and cleansing. No one including travellers to Bali can leave their home or accommodations. We reflected by hanging out at our hotel infinity pool, having some drinks, and listening to music on Paul’s awesome travel speaker.
Thanks to my buddy Paul, he saved us from listening to music off of our phones. He is a smart traveller and brought a Bluetooth travel speaker along on his trip. We respected the rules of the cultural holiday and only played music in our hotel room that night. It made for a sweet hotel room dance party. He also brought the travel speaker along with us when we went to the beach and wanted to get our Bob Marley on underneath some palm trees. After using Paul’s speaker I went and bought a Divoom iFIT in Manila so I could have it for when I was heading out to the islands. It came in handy several nights when friends and I were hanging out drinking in our guesthouse common area and on the beach in Boracay. It was small cheap but it is wired.

HELPFUL GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS
- Flights: Find a cheap flight using Skyscanner or Momondo. I like these two booking sites because they both search all websites and airlines around the globe including budget airlines.
- Accommodations: I use Booking.com or Tripadvisor to find the best rates on hotels. Hotels.com offers a free night after booking 10 nights.
- Get up to $40 off your first Air Bnb stay by using this code!
- Travel Insurance: Having gotten sick on my travels in the past, I never travel without being insured. You never know when something may happen. For my round the world trip and extended long-term travel, I use World Nomads. For other trips, I have used Roam Right and they cover activities like extreme sports.
I’m not the most educated in sound quality so I was just interested in having a travel speaker that is durable for my clumsy self and I can take with me on my world travels plus decent sound. There are loads of Bluetooth travel speakers out there and some are crazy amazing quality but also on the pricey side. I have a great Tivoli home system which I love and an iPal which is too big to bring around with when space is limited.
Divoom reached out and gave me one of their Voombox Travel Bluetooth speakers to try out.
Boom! Voombox Travel
Here are some details about the speaker:
- Wirelessly stream audio to the speaker from any Bluetooth-equipped device

- Rugged design, splash resistant, and built for the outdoors (camping, beach vibes, travelling!)

My thoughts
Good:
Bluetooth is amazing because I hate corded anything.
For its size and price ($50), this Divoom speaker is a pretty darn good bargain. I am not some audiophile, I just like to have music to rock out to when I’m in my hotel room or loafing by the pool.
The shape is not bad. Not my favourite but it fits into my day pack side pocket which is handy when going on an adventure.
Water-resistant and sturdy. I’m clumsy as hell and have already dropped it and spilled coffee on it. Amen for water-resistant things.
Not so good:
When you crank the sound, the little guy moves around when there’s a lot of bass in a song. I would definitely not crank it all the way up.
It doesn’t go any louder than the iPhone goes.
Overall thoughts:
I like it. I would pay $50 for this. I’m excited to take this puppy on my next trip. I am travelling and actually not going solo. So this speaker will come in handy for some hotel dance parties!!
Here’s a video I made testing out the Divoom Voombox Travel speaker. Please lower the volume and adjust accordingly. It may get a bit loud!
