Whistler Girlfriends Trip: 5 Must Dos For A Perfect Trip With Your Friends

Snowboarding in Whistler

Thinking about a Whistler girlfriends trip? this winter? One of my favourite destinations for winter fun is Whistler, Canada. As one of the top winter destinations in the world, it is an ideal place for adventurers, foodies, wellness lovers, and girlfriends! Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or even someone who hates physical activity, Whistler is perfect for everyone.

What To Do On A Whistler Girlfriends Trip

Play Outside!

Whistler is all about the outdoors. It’s a year-round destination but most known as the number one winter destination in North America. You can participate in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, zip lining, dog sledding, and more.

HELPFUL GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Flights: Find a cheap flight using Skyscanner or Momondo. I like these two booking sites because they both search all websites and airlines around the globe including budget airlines.
  • Accommodations: I use Booking.com or Tripadvisor to find the best rates on hotels. Hotels.com offers a free night after booking 10 nights
  • Get up to $40 off your first Air Bnb stay by using this code!
  • Travel Insurance: Having gotten sick on my travels in the past, I never travel without being insured. You never know when something may happen. For my round the world trip and extended long-term travel, I use World Nomads. For other trips, I have used Roam Right and they cover activities like extreme sports.
Partake in apres ski

If you’re going to a mountain town in the winter, you have to participate in après ski or after ski. It’s a must even if you’re not actually skiing or snowboarding. At the end of a long day on the mountain, most people congregate at one of the pubs/bars in town for drinks and snacks.

Here are some of my favourite places for an après ski drink:

Bar Oso

Bar Oso is Whistler’s new kid on the block. It is a Spanish small plates eatery also serving craft cocktails and beer. While I only had a sneak preview of the food and drink in November (2015), I trust the team behind Araxi to do an incredible job here. And an FYI, the staff here is good looking ladies!

Cure Lounge at Nita Lake Lodge

Cure Lounge is the perfect place to go for après ski if you find yourself in Creekside or are staying at Nita Lake Lodge. They have great specials along with a s’more station set up outside during the winter season.

Bearfoot Bistro

Have you ever done shots in a vodka ice room before? You and your lady crew will don parkas fit for the Arctic as you shoot vodka in the coldest ice room in the world. This isn’t an après ski activity, though. It’s more like an après dinner and gets ready to party activity!

Have Some Spa Time

Of course, you need to have some spa time for your Whistler Girlfriends Trip! My favourite spa in Whistler is Scandinave! It’s a Nordic spa set in the middle of the forest! How epic is that?

The Spa At Nita Lake Lodge

Perhaps you’re staying at Nita Lake Lodge and you want to stay on that side of Whistler. No problem! Nita Lake Lodge has a spa and has even been named one of the Top 10 Organic Spas in the world by Organic Spa Magazine. I had a kundalini massage there and it was amazing!

Eat Delicious Food!

Purebread

If you’re looking for good coffee in Whistler, Purebread serves Stumptown. Their pastries and baked goods are also amazing. I’m a huge fan and always buy extra treats to bring back to my room.

Fix Cafe

If you’re staying at Nita Lake Lodge, Fix Cafe is fantastic. They sell fresh juices, 49th Parallel coffee and in-house made baked goods, sandwiches, and other delicious food.

La Cantina

I discovered La Cantina this past summer when I was on a Girlfriends trip with my friend Christy from San Diego. They serve tacos and burritos here and they get the thumbs up from this California residing taco connoisseur.

Araxi

Araxi, a long time Whistler staple, is a farm to table restaurant in the heart of Whistler Village and a must when visiting the mountain resort town. Whether you come for a glass of wine, a plate of oysters, or a multi-course meal, Araxi is perfect for an upscale meal with the ladies.

Stay At A Great Whistler Hotel

I’ve stayed at almost every hotel in Whistler and these are my two favourites:

Westin Whistler

Want to be in the thick of things? The Westin Whistler is one of my favourite resorts in Whistler. This all-suite hotel is located right in the heart of the Village and steps away from the base of Whistler Mountain. If you have never been to Whistler before, I always recommend staying in the Village for your first visit. Some of my favourite amenities at the Westin include fireplaces and kitchenettes in each suite. There’s a fitness center, an indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs, and my favourite, a Eucalyptus steam room.

Nita Lake Lodge

If you’ve been to my blog before you know I’m a fan of Nita Lake Lodge. Nita Lake Lodge is located in Whistler Creekside, south of the Village. It’s in a residential neighbourhood beside Nita Lake. If you want to feel like you’re truly getting away while you’re in Whistler, stay here. The lake views and the quieter vibe are fantastic.

If you’re going up the mountain to ski, snowboard or sightsee, the hotel is a 7-minute walk to the Creekside Gondola or they have a shuttle that can take you into the Village. Suites have a kitchenette and a gas fireplace. Try to get a suite with a lake view! Within the hotel is The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge. They offer spa treatments here or all guests of the hotel can come up to the use of the 2 hot tubs on the roof or the steam room. There is a fitness center, a yoga studio as well as snowshoes and other sports equipment like kayaks, bikes, and fishing rods (seasonal) to use near the property.

If you’re planning a big trip for Girlfriends or even a statute, ask for the Rainforest Suite. This 1415 square foot suite has its own private elevator entrance and full-sized dining room and a kitchen. *The view overlooks the mountains as opposed to the lake with this suite.*
